About B. Nicole Klassen

Nicole was born in 1964 and raised in Los Gatos, California. Even as a child she was an outstanding artist. She studied at San Jose State University where she studied under Maynard Dixon “Dick” Stewart as a teacher. (He was a student of Frank Vincent DuMond and Alvin Gittins.) She fine tuned her technique by study with Robert K. Semans. She traveled through Europe twice to visit the great museums and study their paintings. Klassen’s first solo show was in 1994 in Alma Gilbert’s California Gallery. Gilbert was a leading authority on Maxfield Parrish. She has had numerous one-woman shows since. Her paintings can be found in corporate and private collections throughout North America, Europe and Japan.

When painting Nicole enjoys a variety of music and is accompanied by her two ginger cats who occasionally become models for her work…

She constantly scours antique shops, flea markets and fabric stores for fabulous treasures to paint. Her goal is to glorify both ordinary and noble objects by use of careful arrangement and to simplify or accentuate the play of light upon them.
